"Here, Fishy, Fishy, Fishy…"

Friday was a very full day… after a great time at the gym, we came home, ate lunch, and took a nap. After a great nap, Emma and I got ready to meet our good friends Aubrey and Jamey at the Aquarium. We won some free tickets to the Aquarium at a Chick-Fil-A event over the summer- don’t you just love Chick-Fil-A?

Emma had been to the Aquarium once or twice before but this time was the first time she really got excited about the fish! It took her about 30 minutes to warm up, but by the end of our walk through the Aquarium, Aubrey and Emma were telling Jamey and I all about the fish. They were precious. Emma’s favorite exhibit was the turtles- she LOVES turtles! She wasn’t a huge fan of the Shark tank- I think she thought it was too dark.

Be sure and view the videos at the end of the post- the girls were pretty adorable together!

The girls weren’t quite tall enough to stand on the ledges to get a great view inside the tanks- but they loved standing on their tippy toes and peeking in!

Emma- excited about the turtles!

Getting to touch the starfish- the girls loved this- and YES, we washed their hands afterwards. :)

Yes- there was a dog inside the Aquarium- the girls loved petting the dog- just a bonus to our Aquarium experience. :)

Such a big girl with her arms folded across her body

The girls look so little compared to this fish tank!

20081003_0122

I wonder what the girls are saying to each other here!

The girls are so funny to watch together- they copy each other so much! Here, I think Emma started barking at the sting ray and Aubrey joined in!

As we were walking to our cars, the girls started tickling each other and giggling- they are so funny together!

Gym Time

We had another great opportunity to play at "The Big Gym" (as opposed to "The Little Gym") on Friday morning.  My friend Anni is a gym coach and has graciously opened the gym up to moms and toddlers on Friday mornings.

Emma wasn’t feeling her best, but she still had a great time!  She braved the foam pit for the first time but she wasn’t quite willing to jump into the pit without my help… maybe next time!

I took these pics with my phone so they are a tad blurry- apparently my phone doesn’t take motion pictures very well!

"I Dropped My Dolly in the Dirt…"

Emma has fallen love with a very large baby doll that was mine when I was a little girl. Mom says that I never really attached myself to baby dolls when I was little. She says that Emma has played more with this baby doll in the past month than I did in my entire childhood!

This particular baby doll kind of scares me- she just has one of those ‘wild’ looks in her eyes… but Emma loves her so I try to be affectionate to her!

Friday, Emma wanted to take her baby doll outside and she had a great time pushing her down the slide. She would say, “Ready, Weee! Good girl!” (exactly what I say to Emma when I push her down the slide!)

Here are a few pics and a short video of Emma and her dolly:

(this doll only has one outfit- a white formal dress- perfect for pushing into the dirt!)

Mommy’s Night Out!

I’m a bit late on blogging about this, but….. I had such a fun night last Friday night hanging out with several of my best friends from college.  My roommate (and maid of honor), Cheryl, turned 30 last weekend and her sisters planned a fun surprise party for her at In The Raw.

Two of our good friends from Texas even got to fly in town for the weekend!

I had such a fun time catching up with my old girl friends- it brought back so many fun memories!  We laughed ’til we cried into the wee hours of the night.

I had SO much fun girls- thanks for the laughs!

Here is a pic from the night:

Trip Down Memory Lane

I would LOVE to be a professional photographer in my next life.

I used to strive to be really artistic and creative with my photography. Now, I just try to capture all of the special moments in our lives. I keep a Canon Point and Shoot camera in my purse and I always have 2 batteries charged “just in case!” You never know when Emma might do something sweet, funny, memorable.

Pictures have became even more valuable to me after the loss of my dad. When I’m sad or missing him like crazy, I love to go back to my photo albums and see pictures of us together.

Parenting magazine has a photo contest every year and they select several winners who receive great prizes. When I looked at last year’s winners, I thought “WOW, those are some awesome photos and the cool thing is, they were taken my regular ‘ol mommies!”

My pictures are no where near the quality of the winners- I tell Robin it’s because I need a brand new $2000 Digital SLR camera- THEN my photos will be winner quality, right? :)

I decided to enter the contest anyway…. you can only enter 5 pictures and it was really hard for me to choose my favorites. Going through ALL of my pictures of Emma took quite a bit of time- like hours! Sometimes I’m afraid my computer is going to explode from too many pics and videos.

I decided I’d post a few of my favorite pics of Emma here (more than just the 5 I chose to enter.) The thing I love the most about these pictures is that they all capture special stages of Emma’s 21 month life so far. Time has flown by so fast and I want to always be able to remember what she was like at 3 weeks and 1 day, 9 months and 4 days,… etc. Lucky for me, I have just about every day documented. :)

We’ve come a long way, huh? From a sweet peaceful sleeping baby in a crib with a warm blanket wrapped around her, to a big girl picking her nose with NO shame. :) I love this girl like crazy!

(no- I did not enter the nose-pickin pic in the photo contest!)
