Mother’s Day

May 12, 2009

I had a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday. I can’t believe this was my 3rd Mother’s Day as a Mom! Here is a picture from my 1st Mother’s Day in 2007 (is it just me or does it look like I don’t know how to hold a baby…. maybe I’ll look more smooth the 2nd time around!)

I’m very sad that I did not get any pictures of Emma and myself this Mother’s Day. It was such a busy day, it just completely slipped my mind! We went to church and then had a great lunch with my entire family at Charleston’s. It was very yummy.

Robin got me a cute Fossil purse (that I picked out and brought home a week ago and said, “can this be for Mother’s Day please?”) that I love. He also got me two sweet cards and some chocolates!

It was a wonderful day- mainly because I just feel so blessed to be Emma’s mommy and to know that we have another blessing on the way.

Here are a few pictures that I took of Emma before church on Mother’s Day.

She is getting her 2 year molars right now so she frequently has her hands in her mouth! Poor girl.

Emma the Entertainer

May 12, 2009

Emma loves to have visitors to the house and she loves to entertain visitors even more!

Last weekend Aunt Judy came over to hang out and get her “Emma fix.”  Emma suggested that they play in her pink tunnel.  I’m not sure who’s idea it was to have a picnic inside the tunnel???  Emma kept demanding that she and Aunt Judy trade sides of the tunnel- Aunt Judy definitely got a good workout!

Emma loves it when Aunt Judy comes over to play.

Nana came over the very next day.  Emma loves to sit on the bench in our front yard with Nana-it’s kind of their “thing.”  It was about 68 degrees with a mild breeze so Nana wanted her to wear a jacket.  Emma insisted that she wear her winter hat also.  Nana told her that she didn’t need her winter hat but she threw a fit when we tried to take it off.  So here is Emma surrounded by beautiful spring flowers with her snow hat on- silly Emma!

Mall Fun

May 12, 2009

Emma and I went to the mall to shop last week and of course we had to make a pit stop at the playground!

Emma continues to take a loooooooooooooong time to warm up to environments like the mall playground.  She usually sits right next to me on the couch to watch the other children play for 20-30 minutes before she will even think about venturing out to play.  I’m learning to just “let Emma be Emma.”  I try not to push her.  I kind of enjoy the snuggle time with her and we talk about the other kiddos who are playing.  Her personality continues to be “Slow to Warm” and I love her for that.  She is cautious, inquisitive, and observant.

When she does gear up to play though, she really knows how to play!

Ready to Drive?

May 11, 2009

Last week I was loading the car with things I needed to run several errands.  I told Emma to wait by her car door for me to put her in her car seat.  I ran back to the utility room to grab 2 sacks and when I returned, this is what I found:

She had climbed in through the backseat door (that I had opened for her) and climbed into the driver’s seat.  She had a very sheepish grin on her face and she said, “Mommy, Emma drive?”  Wow, now that’s a SCARY thought!!!   She can’t even drive her doll stroller without running into the walls!

I told her she could drive in about 13 more years (that’s a scary thought too!)

I did learn from this experience that leaving her in the garage for 30 seconds may not be a safe idea anymore- she’s just too fast and too curious!

Painted Toenails

May 11, 2009

A couple of weeks ago Emma saw me painting my toenails in the bathroom and asked if I would paint hers also.  I have tried to paint her toenails before when she was about 15 months and it didn’t got over very well.  Apparently, she was READY this time.  She sat very still and did everything I told her to do… except for stay still after I painted her toenails so they could dry.  She was so excited that she ran through the house to show Koby and Daddy, thus resulting in smudged toenails.  She didn’t seem to mind though!

She asked me to re-paint them the very next night but I told her we needed to leave the current polish on for at least a week. (How’s that for a mom rule made up on the spot!)

Since that night she has enjoyed pretending to paint with a fingernail polish bottle (the lid is screwed on VERY tightly!)  She pretends to pain her knees, Koby’s nose, Daddy’s elbow, etc.

I have to admit that her painted toenails look really cute with her sandals… just in time for summer.

Emma is a natural-born shopper and I love it!  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that she has gone to Target with me every week since she was born and has watched me try on clothes, laugh at myself in the mirror, etc. countless times.

Now when we go shopping, SHE has definite opinions.  Opinions about clothes for her, clothes for me, clothes for daddy, etc.  I think I like it that she has opinions but I can see it becoming a problem in the near future!

We went to Owasso to do some low-key shopping just a couple of weeks ago and she loved trying on sunglasses.  She felt pretty cool as you can tell!

After all of this serious shopping, we took a break and each had a yummy Jamba Juice smoothie.  She loved it!

“Where’s Emma?”

May 10, 2009

One of Emma’s favorite games right now is hide-and-seek.  She thinks it is hilarious!  Daddy is a really good sport about playing hide-and-seek with her in her room- keep in mind there are only so many places to hide in her room: behind the rocking chair, behind the door, IN the crib, behind the curtains, in the closet.  These are the standard hiding places.

She loves to hide from us too and when she hides she yells, “Where’s Emma?  Come find me!”  Then she usually says something like, “I’m hiding by your bed mommy”, or “Daddy, I’m in your office!”  We are trying to teach her not to tell us where she’s hiding but she just can’t help it.   She giggles non-stop when we find her.

Here are some pictures that were taken after Emma found daddy hiding behind the rocking chair.  She decided she wanted to have her bedtime books read to her from behind the chair… so daddy did just that.

I’m a little behind on blogging (again) so these pictures are from several weeks ago.  I can’t just skip over some events though, right?

We had fun preschool play day at our church on April 18th called “Under The Big Top.”  Unfortunately it was rainy that day, so we had to move the festivities indoors.  It turned out really great though, and Emma had a very fun time.

I was working at the event (I popped popcorn for the kiddos!), so daddy brought Emma.  He said that it took her a while to warm up, but once she saw her buddy Aubrey, she came alive and started playing.   Her favorite station was the jump house where she jumped for about 20 minutes straight.  She LOVES to jump.

She was NOT a fan of the clowns though… maybe she’ll outgrow this fear by next year’s carnival.

Here are a couple of pics from the day.
