On October 26th Robin and I got to go on a fun date night to a Wedding Reception for one of his co-workers. The reception was at The Five Oaks Lodge in Jenks and we had a great time. Thank you thank you thank you to my Mom and Aunt Judy for watching our kids so we could have a night out! I’m guessing this will be our last night out before Baby Cash comes. Before we left we wanted to get a picture together and the kids insisted on being IN the picture… so here is our family picture:
I feel like I look HUMONGOUS in these pictures… but it’s important to document the pregnancy, right? :) I was almost 34 weeks in these pictures… a little over a month left to go! I’m hoping that night will be the last night I have to wear high heels while pregnant. :) Man, I was hurting by the end of the night!
On Sunday, October 21st we went to Aubrey and Landon’s house for a fun play date. The kids decorated pumpkins with stickers while the Mommy’s talked. :)
Here are Emma and Aubrey after decorating their pumpkins. These girls have been friends since birth.
Foster with his pumpkin…
I was trying to get a picture of the girls’ missing teeth- they both lost their first tooth within 1 week of each other- the same lower right bottom tooth!
While I was there and had my good camera with me I took some pictures of Jamey and her kids. These were my favorites.
Emma has had a loose tooth for about a month or more… which gave us a lot of time to talk about losing teeth, the tooth fairy, etc. As with any major life event, Emma had a LOT of questions and concerns both about losing teeth and about the tooth fairy visiting! She was extremely nervous about both events! On the evening of Oct. 9th her tooth was basically hanging by a thread and bleeding. After a bit of encouragement from Mommy and Daddy, Emma let Mommy pull her tooth. She cried for a little bit. I think it was very traumatic for her! After a good cry, she was all smiles!
My Mom kept this Peter Rabbit tooth pillow from when I was little and passed it down to Emma. I have been so excited to get it out and use it. You can see Emma’s tiny baby tooth on the pillow.
Emma was extremely freaked out at the thought of having the tooth fairy in her room in the middle of the night. SO…. she wrote the tooth fairy a note and posted it in the hallway outside of her room- she told the tooth fairy that her tooth would be on the telephone desk in the kitchen! I love the way this girl thinks. :) Here is the note hanging on the wall in the hallway…
“Dear Tooth Fairy” (written by Emma), “My tooth is on the telephone desk” (written by Daddy.) Then she signed her name and drew a few patterns for the tooth fairy! (she loves patterns.)
Please excuse the messy telephone desk… there is the tooth pillow on the telephone desk! The tooth fairy had not trouble finding the tooth- Emma was very excited to find $2 waiting for her the next morning!
When Pops and Gigi were in Tulsa we went to the Pumpkin Patch briefly- because it was FREEZING that day! We picked out one big pumpkin and then Emma and Foster each picked out a small pumpkin for their room.
We gutted and carved the pumpkin on a Sunday night. Apparently I only got pictures of the kids “gutting the pumpkin.” No carving pictures or after pictures of our Jack-o-Lantern. Oh well!
Emma really loved helping me take all of the strings and seeds out of the pumpkin this year. Foster wasn’t so sure about getting messy but enjoyed watching!
Those that remember me as a teenager and child know that the piano was a huge part of my life! I LOVE the piano- love to play it, love to listen to others play it, and I even love the look of pianos. When my Mom downsized her house we were blessed to inherit the baby grand piano from her house that I learned on growing up- it was a gift to me from my Dad and it is one of my most special earthly posessions.
Nothing would thrill my heart more than having my children learn to play the piano. I took lessons from the time I was about 5 until 18. Robin also took piano lessons when he was young but quit to play sports and he says now that he wishes he hadn’t given it up. His Mom is a very talented Pianist and plays piano/keyboard for her church.
We have debated when to start Emma in piano lessons- probably within the next year or so. She is so funny about things. With anything in her life, she only does it if it is HER idea and when SHE feels like it. However, the last few times Gigi has come to visit Emma loves sitting down at the piano and learning a few things from Gigi. It is really precious to watch- she soaks it up! Gigi bought her a beginner piano book and we leave it on the piano. Over the last month Emma will just randomly sit at the piano and go through several pages and practically teach herself. If she has questions she asks me, but for the most part she just ikes to pace herself.
Here are some pictures from Gigi’s last piano lesson with Emma on October 7th.
